From the President: For October 2007

I've said it many times, most recently at our September Sierra Writers meeting: Critique groups provide a wonderful opportunity to receive constructive comments about what we are writing. It also makes us better writers to listen with an ear toward offering constructive comment about what others are writing.

Besides our four critique group categories—for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and writing books for children—Sierra Writers has two Open Read sessions per year (next one, Oct. 10 at 6:30PM). The critique groups meet every month. The Open Read sessions attract a larger number of people for more of a snapshot opportunity to benefit from this valuable kind of sharing.

On a separate note, check out the Accolades for member news and tidbits—like Lucinda Porter's awarding winning haikus. It would be nice to routinely receive items to post on this page.
