From the President: July 2006
Summertime. I hear water sounds: bodies splashing, oars propelling, cascades tumbling and falls plummeting. Waves yawning, ice cubes melting, life bubbling.
Summertime. For Sierra Writers, that means no second Wednesday of the month meeting in July or August at the Madelyn Helling Library. Look for it to resume Wednesday, September 13. Kate Perry (pen name for Sierra Writers member Kathia Zolfaghari) will speak. She has much to tell, now that her first novel is selling so well since it came out this Spring.
One of the neat things about Sierra Writers is the range of experience to be found in our midst. We so appreciated Sands Hall's talk in June. Also a Sierra Writers member, Sands engaged us with her more veteran experiences producing novels and plays and teaching writing.
Sierra Writers hopes to draw a bit more attention to itself starting this Fall. We'll start talking to you about it then. Meanwhile, if you have any ideas you'd like to suggest or actions in which you would like to participate, let us know.
