Elizabeth Appell

Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Come hear Elizabeth Appell—novelist, playwright, short story writer, and screenwriter—share instruction and excerpts from her work. Expect a brief exercise writing a little scene with some punch in it.

Appell's most recent novel, Lessons from the Gypsy Camp, is about a girl wrenched by a troubled home life. Elements of Betrayal was one of three novels before that. Appell's plays include "Confession of a Catholic Child," "Moon Walkers," and "Chalk Lines" (her most recent). Short stories include "Swimming toward the Butterscotch Man," "Fragile Decisions," and "Warnings from the Bathtub." Screenplays include "Orgasms and Other Lies" and "Easy Made Hard."

The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Members and visitors are welcome. There is no charge. Sierra Writers meet the second Wednesday of each month. Sierra Writers provides a venue for writers of all types to meet and learn about each other’s work and share experience and expertise.
