Writing Children's Books

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Babette Donaldson is more than a writer of books for children. She is a writer with a marketing plan. Intentionally, she is producing a series of Emma Lea stories. Intentionally, the stories relate to tea parties and such. It is no coincidence to her strategy that she is the director of Tea Suite, a non-profit that supports art education, or that she is working on an advanced level of professional tea certification through the Tea Council.

Focusing on getting started writing for children, Babette will refer to her passion about the history, culture, tradition, community, and family aspects of the world of tea, and how she weaves that together with her passion as a writer.

Other points she'll address:

  • book signings with children
  • websites and chat groups
  • the importance of critique groups and other organizations and writing groups
  • formatting a story integrated with illustrations

The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. Members and visitors are welcome. There is no charge. Sierra Writers meet the second Wednesday of each month. Sierra Writers provides a venue for writers of all types to meet and learn about each other’s work and share experience and expertise.

Location:
